diaries from bosnia
though a lot about you,
about your country.
already seen
the secret life of words,
a deep touching way of talking
the abominable thing of all: war
balcan´s war... and how there are
many batles deep down people;
batles, words and silences.
- this two films portray the aftermaths -
there´s also ulyses´ gaze
wich takes place during war:
a journey through this old europe
till the joint with the "east".
till sarajevo and war.
the first film is a documentary,
the narrator is also the director.
the story [though history too]
is made by the things
that are not told -- shown.
in this film seems as if images itselfs
were absence and emptiness.
like out of this "reality"
(and they were) images
of a long long mourning.
images of a devastated nation.
images of memories.
the future and hope: the children.
the second film is a fiction,
one of those fictions much closer
to the real than we wish.
as in diaries from bosnia,
here, the consequences of war,
but in an individual person.
the film starts by showing
the roots of these consequences
in "someones" everyday life.
there has been an overwhelm
of emotions.
memory´s locked – so words
become silences and through
that absence dialogs happen…

I took the typewriter outside, for sunbath.

I´ve only been 10 hours at home.
Fixin the studio it is a fascinating task.

Is it irony what iron it´s made of?
We end the ekonomi classes. It is fascinating or, as mr farocki would fix: STONISHING!. Last day we talked about copyrights. You know, maybe it is not a bad idea to have a ”scientific/professional/tecnical look” over this matters in the MM, you learn a lot…
Gerthrud told me that i could stay as long as i didn´t talk about what they´re hidding in the basement, uopss! We should talk wednewsday.
…I wonder if the polish woman got to find a place where to buy her 100% alcohol vodka… or at least the svartclub…
This Saturday was Tomas final Exhibition at peep (school gallery). I am learning some tecniques of the last minute-opening-arrangements,
It is so that (for instance) sometimes to clean a spot you paint a new spot over. Somethings cannot be washed off, is it still in the wall?…
Also to tell you that Ditte, the litle&young danish painting pearl and myself are trying to produce some art together. If it happens i´ll informe you, jajaja.
As well, our good smillie friend mr icelandic coconuts ideas (ingifarn), wants to start a radio program, weekly basis, not sure you can say that. I´m interested, i am always interested…
Hope the snow ends to thaw and then the basketball team can come up. It is enough of cold now.

In sweden you pay taxes where you live
In denmark you pay the taxes where you work. Sweden´s laws for artists seemed quite fair to me… Grants are not taxable.
Being an artist you can also work in a part time or other job and then deduct your loss (if you´re not ”lucky*””) from your income… etc.

Today saw rebecca, she´s back.
Didn´t talk much, yet… you know, I was late for the ekonomi class.
Yes man!, we learn” about taxes and salary and income and dedduction and account books and that stuff, And specialy we listen to all these nice stories that this swedish-that-don´t-look-like-a-swedish-almost-two-meters-high-funny-old-chap- is telling.
We have coffee breaks from 5 in 5 minutes, ´cause he´s a smoker fellow.

We, roomates and I, have been in a petit trip through denmark.
We, roomates, svendborg folks and I had a wonderful time.
We, roomates, young musicians and I went to svendborg to make a CULTURAL event at the association- not sure- they call it machine”.
We, roomates, young musicians, svengborg fellows and I did a big deal of a CULTURAL event; tuborg DK bear helped.
I am quite impressed, I must say, with these guys:
1- They arrange all the program” with svendborg cultural association. Svendborg is a 45.000 inhabitants post industrial, nice harbour and litle pretty hipercoloured traditional houses town in the south of FYN, the second biggest island of DK.
2- DK and DKNY, …
3- We got early to the place, the musicians were already there. Clean, arrange (we sat up a nice light system, with a fadder conmutator so that you could control the intensity of light, as you see I am mooved by the AXperience) and prepare the space, 2 bars 1 livingroom+entrance, 1 stage+dance flloor, 1 in high dejay cabine, etc.
4- We all did that with joy and profesionalism” (jajajahohohihihuhuhu, but it´s true), having a good time.
5- The musicians even had time to rehersal almost all of the tunes for the night.
6- The same musicians were collecting the tickes, behind the bar, cleaning, etc. I must say here that they bought all the drinks which money they keep it, the association as counterpoint would have new members and a % of the entrance money.
7- ALL WENT SMOTHLY.
8- Nice music, nice people, good vibes.
9- Res pon sa bili ty, they had… so, they din´t get drunk till the end (then they got reeeaalllyy drunk)when all the people left.
10- And next morning, hanged over and everything we undid what we have donne with the same comunal” spirit. NICE.
Lots of things just for 24 hours. Not to mention those 17 years old youngsters talking politics/social problems/culture… con un par de cojones.

Then we travel a litle more to the forgotten harbour of Nyborg (forgotten because now a 23 km bridge link the 2 islands).

nos últimos 2 dias terrivel tormenta: neve gelo, chuva, frio e vento; tudo vindo da Dinamarca (será por isso que os suecos desconfiam).
my brother´s typing in the computer next to this one. he came to visit me. we made photos in the photostudio. I used hasseblad, was a BLOOD bath, I fucked up all the polaroids, even that i had asked “conoseur” opinion before, it´s ok. we had fun and a lot of work. he will leave me to london on tuesday.
IEsterday was ingi´s opening at peep. I got there at six o´clock and everything was just half done, all these people working hard for ingui. this guy, what are we gonna do with this crazy icelandik?!. he tried to do all by himself. the exhibition was nice:
2 mirror balls. 2 video proyectors. 2 cameras. 1 bar. dejays. 2 screen moitors. 2 mics. people.
there were 2 tables strategically spoted. each one had a video recorder over which was a chair and on it a video proyector. in the wall next to the table was a camera facing audience and connected to the videoproyector, the vhs recorder and the tv monitor (situated in the entrance of galery). connected to the video camera was a microphone- I know it´s hard to follow the visual, just try- so when everything was on, the mirror balls over the videoproyector, which were receiving the screening, send a thousand litle images of the atmospheric enviroment into the gallery, BEAUTIFUL!. at the same time the dejays played the music, boxingGhERTRUD interviewed people (the prize for it was a free drink) and ditta (whose gigantic boyfriend din´t loose eye contact) and myself were making coctails all night long, CRAZY man!!!
we end at ingi´s place drinking beer and smoking weed. boiko was there fighting kung fu with me, actually he made my lip bleed, then I kicked his ass!!! was nice. trygve the norwegen boy was there and alex with his newest conquest (is it a contest?), back-up singer he says… this loveland fellow, no remedy!!!

I had news from Gaspar (litle bear) the polar freak!!! he is doing okay!...in chicago. I feel that he´s much of a traveller, so I think isak-pa is preparing him a trip to another continent. I just told gaspar “send photos, make your blodyfantastic soup, don´t be too lazy and don´t THINK too much about art”.

SOFT SWEET SAFE STUFF
Penalva and I meet alright; he was late, they told me it´s usual, we had a nice cup of indian tea (much for my surprise because Joao told me he couldn´t stand black tea with milk)... did we talk about art?
Friday
Alex (again) the american musician and I made a pub at school. We had:
48 cans of bear, 50cl each and 6 litters of wine, we made patatas bravas (chili sauce) in the oven. One music life performance and good vibe energetic waves all night.
We sold out!, they just drunk everything, this Nordic Vikings are really sponges, eh?!.
Was a very nice experience added to the € 83 each of us made.
Saturday
All day shooting with Rocío, the Chinese Costa Rican girl, that means that I had to wear this kitsch costumes and a huge Costa Rica´s typical carnival paper made head; met some interesting people, funny characters.
Saw performance... too much talking...too much Swedish. Saw student opening show at Peep; a deep clean nice measured passage into art.

Yesterday Monday I saw Anika Eriksson´s presentation (quick link with Onofre´s works)... I had Knut Åsdam in my studio, maybe you know him; he´s friend of Renée. He´s a young goodlooking&muchtraveled mother fucker. I liked with him.
I am just kidding, but we had so many “activity” in this last days, I am snicking into Andrea Gyer And Knut Åsdam course; just to check out what is going on there. Have seen so many films, Greenaway´s “The cook, the thief his wife and her lover”, Chris Marker´s “Sunless”, Jim Jarmush´s debut “Out of Paradise”, Yvonne Rainer´s “The woman who...” and “Privilege” (yet another from her this afternoon: “Julia talking pictures”) and Fassbinder´s “Querelle”...PUFFF!!!
